This is a new and exiting collaboration with Steve Woodhead Studio Pottery

Steve is one of the leading studio potters in this country, making a range of hand made domestic pottery from his workshop in Warwickshire. The concept behind the new "crystal ware" range, is to create a range of individual handmade pottery that incorporates the healing power of crystals in the form of thumbstones.

Every mug is individually thrown on the potters wheel using the finest English Porcelain. Each mug is unique, Steve does not throw to pre-defined shape but allows the mug to evolve to its own form, so some will be little taller and some a little wider. Steve says “he loves this, as you can see that they are all of the same family but each mug has its own unique character”.

The lip of the mugs are thrown thin so that they have a very comfortable feeling in the mouth. The handle also incorporates a thumb grip making this one of the most comfortable mugs to hold. A decorative spiral is also cut into the clay giving the piece a sense of movement. The mug is glazed in a simple pure white glaze that adds a sense of quietness and tranquillity. This purity acts as a beautiful canvas on which the individually selected thumb stone is attached, creating an aura of harmony between the stone and the mug.

The crystal thumb stone is mounted into the mug opposite the handle (see below), allowing the thumb to fit neatly into the crystal (see below)

The finished crystal ware mug is perfect for that special drink of tea, coffee or herbal infusion.
